Season update from the OA Saints

Another season draws to a close and it would have finished much earlier if it wasn’t for the freak snow flurries causing problems for most rugby clubs across the UK in January and February!

A very successful and hard-fought season for the OA Saints battling their way to achieving top spot of our sixth season in Championship SE 2. With one game outstanding on Sunday 8th April, unless a disaster occurs, we will take a second place finish just missing out on the playoff.

The platform has been set now to win the league next year as some huge talent has joined us throughout the season adding strength and depth. We continue to have support from the talented junior saints as they feed in their 17 and 18 year old girls to us for experience at the women’s level.

The players are self-motivated, instigating their own running club prior to training sessions and working hard on their fitness outside of normal rugby sessions.

Head Coach Darran Brown has been the glue cementing the squad together and I am pleased to announce he will be staying on to coach his third season with us.

It is with a heavy heart that I am stepping down from all Saints duties after 14 years of playing and three years of being Club Captain. It is time to hand the reins over to a new team who will carry on the Saints legacy in true form.
