A beautiful winter morning welcomed the travelling faithful to Bedford for a much needed post Christmas friendly. The boys were itching to get going after a long break from rugby. Unfortunately Bedford were a few players short but in the spirit of the game we were able to lend them some players to make up the numbers to ensure a full match could be played. It was a true mix of our whole squad from A, B and C teams and they were a credit to our club.

OAs U16 Away trip to Bedford

OA’s U16 Backs on Fire In The Winter Sunshine ....... A crisp, cold late November morning was just what the A team needed to shake off the cobwebs of the previous weeks and play an A Team game for the first time in what seemed an age. Late injuries and the odd cry off meant a chance for some players to sample A team rugby and to test their mettle in the heat of battle.

OA U16As vs Olney

Expect The Unexpected @ ConfusedPlayers.com! ...... It’s not hard to confuse teenage boys simply ask them to pick up their clothes from the floor or put their plates in the dishwasher (we’re posh in St. Albans!) and a glazed, uncomprehending look comes over them as though the parents are speaking Klingon. Therefore when the coaches decide to throw their own version of the chaos theory into a rugby game, no-one should be surprised if the boys lose the plot. But these things are good for a team. To be taken out of their comfort zone and having to learn to adapt to situations is a reality they have to get used to and a test of their on-field leadership and management.

U16s – Expect The Unexpected

U16A ................ Last week’s opener against Hammersmith whilst it represented a positive start to the new campaign, left much to be improved in this Match Day 2 fixture when OAs took to the field to face Cheshunt. Cheshunt have always caused OAs a problem and it has always been difficult to fathom the reasons why. It was hoped that the struggles of previous seasons could be replaced by a convincing victory in a style which befits the OAs ethos..
